Production began in 1940. Only 55000 were built compared to 600000 plus jeeps. It was not successful in the desert until a tropical version (tropenfest) was developed known as the 'German camel'. |

Designated as a truck 1/2 ton Ambulance 4x4. This ambulance version was fitted with a hard cab unlike other models with an open cab. The trucks were also used by the British and USSR under lend-lease. |
